Nottingham
The Nottingham Canal is located in the Broad marsh area of Nottingham. And for the longest time, people represent this area of the city as rough and an aesthetically unpleasing place, and rightly so, Broad marsh is filled with bad architectural decisions consisting of more than just a few 'Dead Walls'. The city centre on the other hand is recognised as the centre of activity in Nottingham, a place of architectural diversity and historical precedents. An aim of mine in this project is to somehow link these two areas; Nottingham City centre, the prosperous side of town, with Broad marsh, the less fortuitous area of the city. A way I plan on going about this is by relating the lighting show held on the market square including the Council House, to my archipelago structure on the site.
